Maori Creation Story Learning
Term 2 topic learning was the Maori creation story of Ranginui and Papatuanuku. Students learnt about the Maori gods of creation through shared books, discussion, and dance. I gave students the opportunity to choose a god they would like to create a dance about. Students collaborated and through scaffolded tasks they created a dance to show the personality traits of there chosen god. Students then performed small snippets of there dance with Kapahaka and Maori school song at our school assembly.
